The Corinthian church provides the backdrop for apostle Paul's instruction on growing in the Christian faith. His message at the core is the truth of "Jesus Christ and Him Crucified" (1 Cor. 2:2). The relevance of these letters to present-day Christians is abundantly clear. The first letter covers jealousy, church discipline, conflict resolution, cliquishness, sexual issues, marital relationships, spiritual gifts, church order, and more. The second letter is the most auto-biographical of Paul's writings and builds on many of the same themes as the first. Taken together these make for lessons in practical Christianity based on profound truth in Christ.
